Stay Alert!

Tips For Safe Travels

Trust your gut when it comes to safety– don’t worry about being polite if you feel unsafe. If it doesn’t feel right or make you uncomfortable, I say don’t do it. When traveling you should always respect culture and customs but you should also be vigilant about your safety.

Be open and positive and know that you are there to enjoy and learn.

Leave the expensive jewelry at home. Don’t be flashy and flaunt your valuables (yes that includes your cellphone)

Be alert-no earbuds while walking in cities. The less alert you are the more likely you will be trageted by muggers.

Walk with confidence

When taking a taxi, keep your things with you in the back seat so that you have control of when to get out, if issues arises.

Do your research before you travel. Learn about the county or city you plan to visit. I always check out the type of scams that are popular in an area and what are the areas to avoid. I tend to shy away from resorts, so i like to explore like a local. I often research what is the most popular crime for an area.

Happy and Safe travels!
